    Eating

Ok so I got my adopted ball python on6/24/08 I tried to feed him/her a week after that which would have been the 7/3/08...he/she didnt eat then so I was going to try again today. last time i tried with rat pups..With the rat pups I did one by one and all he did was let the rat walk all over him so he basically ignored it..Then I knocked it out....and tried again later that night with no success.

today iam going to try with adult mice....Last time I tried was mid day around 12noon..was that bad timing?

    Do yall think he'll eat?

Could I have done anything wrong?

The tank is a 55 gallon which maybe too big but then at the same time the hides are the perfect size for him/her to squeeze theirs self in. Water is always available and it is always looking for a way out

Try feeding at evening time so the snake is more active. A smaller enclosure may be beneficial as well.

    Re: Eating

Woah, that enclosure is WAY too big for a young bp. (I almost think it's too big for an adult even, an adult would fit in a 20g nicely but preferably a 30g)
He's probably not going to eat until you get him in a properly sized enclosure.
Also, why did you wait 11 days to feed again? That young of a ball python should be on a 5-7 day feeding schedule.

Are you feeding live? And yes, a good idea would also be to try feeding at dusk or night.

What are your temps, humidity, exc?

    Re: Eating

Sometimes husbandry issues cause a snake to go off-feed or to refuse food. I agree that the environment you have the snake in (if the snake is young) sounds like it could be causing the snake to experience stress and so he will not eat. Also, you observe your snake as "always looking for a way out". This is often times a signal that your snake is stressed.

Maybe if you post pictures of the enclosure the members of the forum might see something that you may have overlooked while setting it up. Typically with a few fixes here and there, the snake will begin to feel secure and will then turn to feeding behaviors.

Welcome to the forum, by the way

Thanks for everyone's wise words and thanks for welcoming me back here.

I found out what the problem was. This particular ball python is hooked on mice...So this evening (cause yall said feed at night) I fed off 4 mice, he/she ate 3/4. the fourth one it killed but didnt eat it because it it was eating it tale first and was having too many problems and gave it and spit out. So that one i took out and threw away. I'll have videos on this post soon. So again thanks for everyones help appreciate it
