Rollie Pollie Pill Bugs

I was wondering if pill bugs more commonly known as rollie pollies could be used to feed my fire-bellied toads. I am going to be using them in my hermit crab tanks as janitors to keep the tank clean but wanted to know if i could also use them to supplement my frogs diet with them.

ya there is a huge list of different names for them. i just want to know if i can use them for feeders because that will determine if i breed them or not.

The only harm I can think of is if they are wild pill bugs that have been exposed to insecticides. Pill bugs aren't actually insects, I believe they are most closely related to crustaceans. I don't see why you couldn't try them. If you do, let us know how it works out.

My cricket frogs and gulf coast toads all eat them. Shouldn't be a problem.

I am going camping in the Great Smokey Mountains in a few days so I am gonna try to get few there since they will be clean of insecticides. Even though your not suppose to take anything out of the park I dont think a small handfull of pill bugs will completely destroy the ecosystem or cause them to go exctinct lol. If I dont find any then I will just try to order some and see if my frogs and leopard gecko will eat them.

I feed em to my whites all the time and he loves them! they are his favorite snack!

Actually potato bugs are a type of cricket. I believe they are called Jerusalem Crickets. Rollie pollies are those tiny little guys that kinda look like an armadillo with armor plating and they roll into little balls.
