Picking up a new snake tomorrow

Well, I'm picking up my friends little brothers BP tomorrow night. It is a BP from petsmart and I think he has had it for 2-3 years (its in a 50gal screen top on wood chips with no humidity - one log hide - and a lamp for a heat source, just about everything is wrong). Once when I went over it had stuck shed all over it (again, it wasn't offered any humidity and we live in AZ so it is DRY here) and I felt so bad for the little guy but no one let me do anything about it because the brother was not around or he was asleep, I forget what was happening - but I told my friend to tell his brother what to do about it so hopefully at least that message was relayed to him.

His mom told my friend to ask me to take it since his brother was not taking care of it. I'm very excited to be able to provide it better living conditions, and I'm just hoping that the years of improper husbandry have not caused it to have any health problems. I'll post pictures after it gets here - I haven't seen it in about a year, so I don't know what type of condition it is in now. Hoping for the best though!

It should be, I felt so bad for it the first (and actually only) time I saw it.

Re: Picking up a new snake tomorrow

Okay, I just picked up the snake about 2 hours ago. They had changed a couple things - they had it on 2 small heat pads instead of the bulb and it had 2 hides now (not the BEST changes, but better than last time I saw him).

The snake did have at least 3 different piles of poop I saw in the cage, and scattered bits of shed - pieces stuck to all the hides/decorations in the cage too. They had an aquarium rock structure that had a lot of small holes it could have gotten stuck in if it had grown any larger, and it had a wood structure that had exposed nails sticking out of it - both of those pieces are now in the trash.

The snake has grown in length since I last saw it, and it doesn't seem skinny at all - maybe just a little small for its age. I think its 3 years old now and its smaller than my 2 year old BP

The poops I saw in the cage looked normal, I didn't hear/see any signs of an RI, and there were no mites. The only problem was he had shed stuck to him all along his belly but I soaked him after I got him home and it all came off easily. So it doesn't look like he is in bad shape!

My sister has decided to take him, and I'm going to help her with everything for the next couple of months while I'm still living here.

Here are some pictures - I wish I would have taken some when I first got him here but I didn't think about it. He looks real nice since he just got all the stuck shed off of himself.
