Name my business

I will eventually start breeding ball pythons within the next couple of seasons, and I want to make it official and create a great business name.

Problem is .. I have no idea what to name it. I want ideas.

Some information about the business:

My name - Samuel (I go by Sam)
State - South Dakota
Species - Ball Pythons, but not really sure if it will stay exclusive to them

Other info - I like original names ... something creative. I am not afraid to have a name the grabs attention and I love longs walks on the beach.

Ideas?

Sam, it took my husband and I pretty much three solid years to come up with our business name so I'm about the last person to give you advice on that!

What did finally work though was I made a pact with another new breeder (we'll both ship out our first hatchlings this year) that gave us about 2 weeks or so to each come up with names. We had a solid date to do so. Then we just talked on the phone and on the computer. Just free flowing thoughts about our businesses, our names, our locations, our dreams, etc. and bingo! we both now have names we love, websites to build, etc.

The thing is though, Sam, if you are a few years away from selling or trading anything you'll be spending money to register a name and hold a site with nothing to put on it. For me, until we were really close to being actual breeders (even in our small way) it just wasn't worth the cash over the years.

That is a good point .. BUT, I am a computer geek and I love working on sites. I love taking the time to make them EXACTLY what I want, and it wouldn't bother me to pay for a site before hand just to start getting the site worked out and to get the name out there.

I am not planning on doing this big time or anything, just hoping that I can do enough to help fund my hobby and fascination with snakes. If not, then I have a lot of friends to keep my company!

Making friends is one of the best side benefits of getting into snakes, Sam!

Well if you don't mind the cost and so forth then I'd say set yourself a firm date so you have that goal and then start picking people's brains either by phone or here. Something will just "click" at some point but if you have a reasonable date as a goal it helps make you stay focused.

So...your name is Sam....you may breed more than just ball pythons....you live in South Dakota.....tell me something about where you live....what's it look like there....that's a start though not always a good one if you plan to leave that area anytime soon (making the name rather odd if it's strongly geographical).

I want something creative but nothing that locks me into anything. That includes geography and species. I also am hesitant to name anything with my first or last name in it because if it does go well, and I someday sell it .. then my name will be attached to it. I know, I think way too far ahead .. but I work in the technology field so my brain is prgrammed to think about all situations at all times and be ready for them.

I dunno .. I just want something that says professional, fun, and inviting. Is my list of demands too long? ^_^
