Unread threads being marked as read

Something I have noticed that bugs me is that when I am reading a thread and something comes up where I have to minimize my page, it seems that if I leave it idle and don't click out of the thread within about 2 minutes, it marks all threads in all forums as read. Is that a setting I can change? I look at bp.net from work every day, but when I have to take a call or work on a project for a few minutes, I lose track of what I've read or what I haven't... It is starting to bug me, so I figured I'd ask...

Here's a trick I do when I have to step away from the computer for awhile, but don't want to lose track of the read/unread threads.... Click on the "Currently Active Users" link (right above the list of who are currently online). This takes you to a page that shows a list of everyone currently online...and it automatically refreshes every 40 seconds or so....which means you stay "active" online and you don't lose your unread thread collection. It still works if you have minimized the screen as well.

    Judy,

You have no idea how much I wish you'd told me that years ago.

If I have to go do anything I have to keep running back and forth to the computer and hitting refresh at the moment like a complete wally.

This should make life much more relaxing.

    LOL @ Dr. Del...

Thanks Judy. I'll try to remember to do that. I've been getting frustrated by that since I joined and finally just decided to post that question... I'll have to try to train myself to do that from now on.

Nice question. I thought it just did that- computer black magic or something

    You crack me up!

    Glad to have helped!

Just be SURE to actually log out, switch to an index page, or at least turn your browser off when you're done. Otherwise, you could be stuck "online" for days at a time and not even know it!

I wish I'd known that years ago. I open up a ton of windows that show all my new post pages in tabs. Then i open up individual tabs for every page.....
