For those with a green thumb: What is this??

This plant sprouted up in my spider plants pot about two weeks ago and has grown really fast. It looks like corn?!? Corn is hauled regularly past the window that this pot is located, so it's not impossible. But it doesn't look like any of the other plants I have. I did repot it with Miracle Grow All Purpose Potting Mix but that shouldn't have random seeds in it... Any thoughts??

I tried to move the spider out of the shot as much as I could...

Definately a type of grass. Although corn fits in the monocot category, it doesn't look like it to me.

Re: For those with a green thumb: What is this??

"A weed" is in the eye of the beholder. Dandelions are considered "weeds" but they make great soup, and are very healthy for you. I'm ashamed of everyone who said it was "just a weed" and to "pull it out".

Why don't you take it out of the spider plant pot (your spider is gorgeous btw. I love the high white. .... >_> It sounds like I'm talking about a ball python morph. You know you're a herper when... ) Anyway, why don't you take it out of that pot and re-pot it and see what grows? If it turns out just to be grass, then oh-well. It's still a living organism that you helped along - nothing bad about that. And if it's something a little more exciting than grass, well, then you have another potted plant!

i may just let it grow and see what happens. i just hate killing live things! except the stupid spider mites that killed my dahlias!

BTW- Thanks for the compliment on my spider! I totally thought it was dead until about two months ago. But it's REALLY lookin good now!

I'm going to have to agree with the others, it's a piece of grass haha.

It's a really nice piece though!
