    it seems too big

i got frozen adult mice for my baby ball python who is about 18'' and an a little over or under 2 months old and i was told that it would be ok on adult mice but her head just seems so small even though it is about the thickness of her thickest point.

    what do you guys think?

If it is no bigger than her biggest part I think you will be amazed to see that tiny, skinny little neck stretch and swallow it. I thought the same thing and was amazed to see how these little guys are like rubber bands.

You would be surprised with the elasticity of their skin and the way their jaws can sort of "walk" around their prey. As long as it's not thicker than she is and otherwise proportional, your snake shouldn't have any trouble with it.

    Re: it seems too big

i think the general rule is feeding them mice which are no larger than the thickest point of their body. i thought the same when i got mine. i thought i needed to find a mouse that would fit down that tiny neck...but thats not the case.

Every time I feed I am still amazed at how much their necks and stretch.

Yep, the point you're looking at for width is BODY width, not head. The jaws and neck are really amazing to watch stretch out (doing that now as my big girl finishes her rat ).

    Congratulations.

Since it sounds like it was her first big meal just keep an extra special eye on the temps and maybe lay off handling her for an extra day.
