Herp Enclosure Elite Series vs Ultralite series

I have one rack from RBI, which I love. My collection is growing and I need to get another rack. RBI does not make a rack larger than the iris 32qt sweaterbox rack which holds four tubs. If I get two more of those and stack them, it will have space for 12 bp's but the problem is the height will be almost 7 feet. I am 5'5" tall and do not relish the idea of having to stand on a step stool in order to check on any bp's in the top two bins. Does anybody have racks from the Herp Enclosures Elite Series and Ultralite Series? is there a major difference between the quality of those two series of racks? or should I just stick with RBI and use the darn step stool? Plus, if I get the 10 tub rack from HE, the current rack I have from RBI can be used to house my corn snakes and I can get rid of tanks altogether
    decisions decisions decisions.

Any input on this is greatly appreciated. thanx everyone.

ps: would the iris 32qt tubs fit in replacement of the Sterlite 32qt tubs? they are relatively close in size

Re: Herp Enclosure Elite Series vs Ultralite series

I bought my first Herp Enclosures rack about 2 years ago. I spoke with Rich on the phone and he was incredibly nice...the transaction was smooth and the rack came...to this day, it's still as solid as the day it came in, no warping, no complaints...on the rack.

However, as the years have gone by, I've read more and more reports of people not being able to even talk to the guy...never answers his phone, orders are late, etc. etc. etc.

All in all, the product is excellent...customer service, not so much. Good luck

His racks are the best, hands down!

My supplier has about 8500 box slots from his racks and they are perfect!

When you slide the boxes out it feels like they are on wheels, they come out super smooth.

As good as they are I use R.B.I Racks (second best racks) for my commercial racks because of the customer service with them is so much better, compared to herp enclosures.

Its too bad, because they really are exceptional racks.

thanx. I thought that they were exceptional quality racks, but getting a hold of him is the problem. Basically from what everyone is saying, the quality doesn't really matter between the elite series and the ultralite series. the rack quality is good all around.

If you have the space, you could make a double stack of the 32qt from RBI and then put the third next to it; the beginning of another double stack. This is what I did (I have 4- 32qt RBI racks) and this has worked well for me and has minimized the height (each rack is only 27" tall making a double stack okay for you; I'd guess.)

Call Rich at RB and Im sure he will build you a 4 slot CB70 tub. I was in talks with him in building me a 5 slot CB70 and bringing it to Daytona so I can pick it up.

I just bought a thermostat from him that was faulty and not his fault. I talked to him through e-mail and he responded every time within a day. He tried to call me to see if we could fix it over the phone but I missed it, calling him back was pointless but he ended up calling me the next day anyway and we worked everything out.

I think his service is wonderful, he also clipped my flexwatt for free and with no questions.

    Just a busy man. :]

That's true, RB Rich does do special orders when he's not swamped

yeah I had thought about doing that too, but the idea of being able to have two racks of 10 bins attached to one thermostat instead of four just appeals to me. guess it makes more sense in my head, now that i've typed it out LOL. I still want to make sure that the quality of the ultralite series of racks from herp enclosure is just as good as the elite series. I dont want to compromise on quality just for a few bucks (although saving money is a good thing too!) thanx for the input though everyone..
