Do you fret when shipping
I sent off two of my girls yesterday. I am fretting and I am getting myself in a tizy. They are not due to their new home for another 2.5 hours, but all the bad things that could go wrong are spinning around in my head. How many of you are nervious shippers? Am I alone tracking them step by step? This is as bad as waiting for the eggs to hatch....no worse. At least I knew what was happening to the eggs, but my girls are out of my hands. Someone Please tell me to calm down and chill. I am so worried.

What dose
Left at front door. Package delivered to recipient address - release authorized
mean? I didn't authorized that the girls be left at the door. Could the person who got the girls have a release and not know it? Now I am really worried. Angela

Re: Do you fret when shipping
Your girls are probably happily snuggled up in their dark little packages, hopefully they are zoned out and not to worried. Thank god you can track the packages and know where they are.
Years ago we flew with two of our dogs to the Doberman National in Houston Tx. On the way back several dog show people were watching the dog crates boarded onto our flight while standing in the terminal. Some of us realized our dogs were not loaded onto the plane.
Turns out the airline did NOT track how many dogs they booked for each flight and with all the show people on the flight they did not have enough room, so they said "well we probably put your dogs on the previous flight to San Francisco."
Talk about panic, not knowing for sure where they were, being afraid to leave the airport if they were still there, hoping they weren't put on the wrong flight. Was not fun. After that we didn't fly to shows anymore, we drove everywhere.
Though I have used Delta Dash and that is pretty good for a direct flight, would probably be good for transporting BP's too. The fact your box is labled "live animals" will surely help, the box won't get delivered to the wrong address and then sit around for a while.

Call the new owner, or if they don't answer call FedX and inquire (assuming it was fed-x) they are pretty good, they will explain. "Package left at front door" does not sound good. You maybe able to look up the signed recept online and see who signed for it (don't know if that data is uploaded instantly, but it should be available).

Re: Do you fret when shipping
Yesterday i got a shipment of three girls, I was shocked because I was in the bathroom when the UPS driver knocked on my door. I got to the door as fast as I could, when I opened the door he was walking away and the package was sitting on my doorstep... I was very shocked....
If for some reason I wasnt home, the sun would have cooked the babies...
I have never shipped anything but I have had 4 shippments to me, my suppliers always ask me if Im going to be home, they have a section on thier web page that says if you tell us your going to be home and they try to deliver and your not home then they no longer guarantee live shipment...
If the recipient wasnt home, then I say its his fault, he knew they were being delivered, they are LIVE animals!!!! I know that doesnt make you any less worried but you seem to have done everything in your power

Re: Do you fret when shipping
Don't panic. The last time FedEx delivered here they noted "left a front door" on the site when the driver had handed me that snake. I think that's what they note if they don't bother to remember to get a signature like they are supposed to since I do remember that he didn't get my signature on his electronic pad like they usually do.
To ease your mind contact your buyer and confirm they have the snakes in hand.

Re: Do you fret when shipping
I always worry... and it always has turned out ok...
I actually worry more when people are shipping to me... I don't have control of how well they pack the animal!

Re: Do you fret when shipping
Well I packed them in a 1.5-2" thick foam cooler box inside a cardboard box that said Parishable and I hand wrote "LIVE HARMLESS REPTILE" on both sides. I didn't put air holes in it as I had a cold pack taped to the top and wanted it to keep cool. It was 80 here and I was shipping to FL where it was 88 degrees. There was not as much padding inside the box as I would have liked as it was a snug fit to get them , the padding and the cold back all in (but there was padding between them and the cold pack).
I am kicking myself back and forth as I can't find the phone number for the buyer . I usually keep all my emails and the time I need it the most I can't find it. I am going crazy as I have emailed 3 times and still no answer.
