Smile Maybe someday .. "Breeder Cuda"?

So, I have had my ball for 2 months and some odd weeks now, and I am really enjoying the experience and I love the animal. Before I got the snake, I was talking to others about my interest in getting one and all I heard was ...

"What, well then why don't you just grow your hair long and buy a motorcycle and listen to metal while you are at it!"

    or

"Why get a snake, they are evil. You should get a cat or a dog, you know ... something that you can actually LOVE!"

Despite the opposition (and my grandmas lack of understanding that I love Rock music) I decided to get one anyway. I have made a few mistakes, and I am sure still making some .. but I am trying to make changes everyday for the benefit of Tenac. Since I love them enough, I thought about getting another (a while down the line ... after I figure out more along my journey as to make the next one correct right away). The thought then turned to .. well then what would I get? What morph? What sex? WHAT TO NAME IT! all those things.

I am thinking that the next one would be a female .. you know .. just in case. I have a few questions for those that have been breeding for a while, those that are new to it, all of the people interested in answering.

    1. Do you like doing it?

    2. Has it been more frustration or joy?

    3. Have you had success selling the results?

    4. Is the time and effort worth the payoff?

    5. Any other advice?

I just want to make sure that any eventual expansion into the world or breeding won't imapct the fun I am having right now. Its like the girls that think raising kids is all giggles and gumdrops until they have their own and learn otherwise ... catch my drift?

    Thanks in advance!

Absolutely. Why get into something if you don't at least enjoy it???

It's been a joy. It has given me a reason to meet so many awesome people, create so many awesome animals, and give me something that I love to do when I get home from a long day at work.

Do it cause you love it. Start out slow, enjoy it as it comes, and expand when you are able.

thank you for the quick response and the helpful advice. Did my original post make sense? I love my pet, I am enjoying every minute with him but I just don't want that the end due to worrying about other things, or getting annoyed by this that and the other.

I want to make sure that the whole aspect of keeping Balls is as much fun as I am having right now before I try it out myself.

This community is awesome, and I appreciate anymore feedback you can give me.

    It makes sense.

My biggest suggestion is to enjoy your pet now...

THINK HARD ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.

Then, when you think you are ready, take the plunge.

It's not easy. Lots of pitfalls can come your way. Be prepared.

But in the end, it is totally worth it.

    1. Do you like doing it?
I love it I can't remember my life with out snakes in it

    2. Has it been more frustration or joy?
I get a smattering of both. There are times I'm ready to throw my hands up and just say forget it. But the times I'm jumping around like a little girl make up for it

    3. Have you had success selling the results?
Haven't sold any yet but I have my normals presold.

    4. Is the time and effort worth the payoff?
No the Payoff for someone that loves it is far more grand than the hours cleaning/feeding/keeping records/ and so on

    5. Any other advice?
Forget the money to be made. If you set your eyes on the cash you will fail..Love the animals, the time you get to spend with them, relish the experence and the money is trivial.

I just want to make sure that any eventual expansion into the world or breeding won't imapct the fun I am having right now. Its like the girls that think raising kids is all giggles and gumdrops until they have their own and learn otherwise ... catch my drift?
Yes it will!!! Now whether its for the better or worse is going to depend on what your really in it for. People that are out for a quick buck get bored trying to raise up a female for 5 years cause she wont eat. Or get sick of cleaning and let the filth build up and the animals suffer.

People that love the animals are willing to get bit, peed on, pooped on, hissed at, struck at, shunned by family, pick on by friends, and called the "Snake guy" at work And all they can think when they go to bed is wow I really got to do that again tomorrow how lucky am I.

Thank you so much for that. The money is not why I would want to get into it, I just love keeping them and watching them grow and learning about them. I think it is awesome to see that even snakes, which are usually thought of as cold, evil and heartless, each have their own personalities .. likes and dislikes. I want to experience more, and I want to dig deeper into this.

I am already shunned by friends and family and I am known as "the snake guy" at work. Your post meant a lot to me .. and made a lot of sense. Thank you!
