I hope you mean the tape is outside the enclosure not inside.

And the substrate can affect the temps so it is a good idea to measure the temps on the bottom of the enclosure as that is the highest he can get to ( make sure its not too hot) then adjust the substrate thickness to get the desired temps on the surface inside the hides.

I would aim for 94f max under the paper towel and 90-93 inside the warm end hide if you can.

This is where the digital thermometers with the probe are the easiest as the probs can be moved to those places easily.

The most important thing you have to do really is keep track of the temperatures with a good thermometer.
