    getting a colubrid.

    I have been looking at colu's again and once again am kinda stuck I am not sure what i should get. I was looking at a mexican black king or a black rat snake what do you guys think?

    Mexican black kings are great. They're known for being gentle and hardy. Rat snakes - I'd go with a lucy Texas rat...but of course I'm biased!

    FINALLY got my BEL,no longer breeding snakes. married to mechnut450..

    you seem to want a black snake,have you considered a black milk snake? born as tri colors that turn black,gentle, easy to care for,low heat requirements and fairly good size.have fun !

    No. I have two, and my male is great. But my female, whoah. She's not nasty, but she is unpredictable. I do not trust her around children.

    Actually yes when I first considered getting something besides a boa or pythons that was my first choice I will do a bit more research and let you all know what I decide.

    I would go with the black milk snake. I HAD a pair of MBK and sold them. The female i had would musk ALOT and when she ran out of that she would use blood, no joke. I know someone who has one and he say that it is one of his best snakes. It seems to be a hit or miss, and with my I missed big.
