Well, its kind of funny because the guy that posted the video said that albino BPs are screwed up and he posts in his signature "1 albino burm" Unless there is something I'm missing and its okay in his book to breed for burmese python traits but when you breed for ball python traits you are just going too far.
I wouldn't worry about it too much! Once someone made a myspace and sent me 200+ messages saying they were going to kill me, sometimes you just have to realize that people don't have anything better to do with their time.

No, I've seen those pictures before, as well as the debate that was had over them. It's not my place to touch that subject. It's been argued upon before. If you want any comment on it, ask Kara or Kevin...

Albinism is a weak gene regardless of the species. I don't see how it would have any more of an effect on balls than burms. I don't see how he can justify that. Responsible breeders outbreed enough to keep genetic defects in check, and in my experience the people at NERD are responsible breeders.

I don't know those guys, I just read that thread. But in all fairness just because he HAS an albino burm doesn't mean he is breeding it (or maybe he does).
While it was really not right to single out python's video, I have to say I do agree with some of the other comments the posters made. It sounds to me like they do love their animals and they are concerned about what goes on.

I wouldn't worry about what someone says after they post regarding "het spiders" (read last post in the thread...)
"NERD was the firt to introduce them to the market. So they all originated from NERD inbred stock. The original spider ball that started the line by being bred to a normal for hets...and then inbred further from there..."
Idiot.
Some miserable people in this world just want to bring others down to their level..."misery loves company!"

Sorry, don't want to pass judgement on ANYONE here, but...
If you consider that he was talking about the FIRST spider ball in captivity, it wasn't known at that time whether the morph was recessive, dominant, co-dominant or even genetic. Breeding the animal to a normal is exactly what would have been done. If carbon copies were produced, we got dom/codom, otherwise hopefully hets for a recessive trait. The poster you were quoting focused on the possibility that a new trait would prove out as recessive.
By the way, even if the new trait did prove out dom/codom (which it obviously did), you still have hets in the clutch (assuming you got visual spiders). My spider male proved out as a het this season when the first clutch that he sired consisted of 4 normals and 1 spider. If he wasn't a het, all the babies would have been spiders.

Re: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I'm not sure what someone else's forums has to do with anything. Unfortunately, if they want to bash ball python morphs, or talk trash about people, then it's their forum. If NERD wants to address the libel or slander attempts or whatever, then that's up to NERD and you could send the link to them, for them to deal with.
The internet is full of stupid people who troll the net trying to get a rise out of folks. If they put a comment on your youtube videos, just delete the comment. I got a lousy bash on my video of me holding my female BP Haurie. No merit to it, just them saying I was flat chested and ugly, so I deleted the comment and went on with life.
Their opinion of you shouldn't matter, so ignore the no-life weenies and enjoy your reptiles and this cool site. Small-minded folks will always exist.
Sorry you've had to deal with them.
