How My Leos Caught Me Off-Guard...
I was tired last night. I think it was only 8:30 and I was crashed on the couch. When I woke up again it was after 11:00 and Jamie was telling me it was time for bed. I was getting ready to head that way and Jamie asked whether I'd checked on the leos today. crap, no... Lemme go see if they need some new paper towels or what not. I opened up the blizzard's box and saw it right away: EGGIES! In the humid Hide! Oh boy, I was so not prepared for this! And I mean REALLY unprepared. No vermiculite, no incubator setup... Jamie, my hero, set off on a fruitless voyage to find vermiculite or potting soil. How dare CVS not have vermiculite at 11:30 at night! After assessing the situation, we really had no choice but to use some dirt from outside. We microwaved it for a few seconds to kill any nasty germs, and set up the eggs in the reptile room where the ambient air temperature was right to incubate. Whew. Got the leos some new paper towels, opened the sunglows' tub to check on them. Guess what happened? Yep. She laid eggs too. Holy crap! So now I have four eggies and I'm thrilled and excited and nervous. Jamie (so so great!) set them up in a proper incubator while I was at work today. I can't believe how quick this happened! I WILL NEVER let myself be this unprepared again!
