    Re: The price of gas?

$4.79 for regular at my normal gas station. It's usually the lowest priced in the area, but for some reason it's the highest now. Other gas stations in the area are around $4.59.

    Re: The price of gas?

To expensive in Oklahoma I would say the price but it pisses me off when I pay attention. So now I ignore gas prices not worth the bald spot for scratching my head to much.

If you already own one as your primary car, k, but if you are more or even just equally concerned about saving money as the environment, it is still more cost effective to not trade in your existing car for a high MPG regular car, like a Ford Focus or Yaris.

For example, my hubby figured out it costs him $1800/year right now to fill his F150 pick up truck, whereas a Ford Focus would cost $1200 - great, a savings of $600. But to trade in the truck dor buy a Focus outright would take...10 years to break even on gas savings? Hybrids cost even more (compare a 2008 stripped down Prius to a stripped down Yaris), so the break point is even further out*.

*Granted that's just on cost of car + fuel, so not incluing the warm fuzzies you get from having a hybrid. If that's important to you, then awesome. =) Just be sure to check the difference in carbon footprint between that hybrid and just an economical and then compare sales price and maintenance - it may not be that much of an advantage.

I drive a sports car, a Nissan 350Z, and you betcha I can get the MPG down to single digits if I drive how I like. Since the price started flying up, I drive slower. All the time. And now I get 24 mpg in town and 28 on the highway...in a sports car.

But I'm driving @65 mph. Takes a bit longer, but I'm eking out savings.

    Re: The price of gas?

I am paying anywhere from $3.89 to 3.99. I am seriously thinking about trading in my mini van which gets 17-23 mpg for another more fuel efficient vehicle.
cassandra- thxs for the breakdown. I have to sit down and see if it makes sense for me as I am driving an average of 500-800 miles per week.
