[Custom Exotics]

Here is my little Lemon Pastel male, I have showed pictures of him before, but I am looking for a little feedback on this pictures. I have a new website in the works, and I am trying to figure out the background and everything for my "collection" and "available" page pictures, and this is my first setup. I am looking for all feedback, positive or negative, and any suggestions!! Thanks

My favorite for actual available and collection pages, are simple black backgrounds, given some snakes just dont "pop" with the black background, I think that the rocks add a nice artistic touch, especially if you used the same spot for every pic.

I also really like mirror pics, but sometimes very hard to achieve.

I agree and like those as well, I just want to do things a little different on mine, but I also want the snakes to pop using whatever background I choose, so I am going to try different things, but think this turned out pretty good. Thanks Patrick, I appreciate the opinion.

I tend to prefer simple backgrounds, black or white (depending on the snake color), which allow the snake to stand out.

I also do like natural backgrounds, however in the second pic you need to center the subject

Yep, I know, the first one too, I am far from a photographer, but thats why I posted this, I need as many suggestions and comments as possible. I am taking a crash course in photography!!

What is that...Flagstone?

Looks good, it's a nice back drop that doesn't distract, but at the same time enhances the look of the pastel.

If it were me, I'd just make sure the photo subject is centered...

I have no idea, we got a bunch of it awhile back from a stable my sister worked at, they wasn't using it and we used it around a little pond we put in the backyard.

I will definately do that before I take pictures for the site, I was just snapping quick shots to test the background, lighting, etc.

Hey bro sorry I didn't weigh in last night for ya. Heres my two cents for what its worth. those two pics are fantastic for the collection pages and even maybe a "Featured Morph" page Great job.

No for animals your going to have for sale I like a soild back ground. I use a light back ground for any animal with black or dark colors it helps keep the snake from blending in to the background. For a light snake I like to see a black or gray back ground. Let the animal pop off the background.

I agree with others on the stones are good for collections pages and such but solid colors work better for available animals (keeps your attention on the animal not the background).

My other comment regarding these is it appears you have metered (ie the camera looked at the stones for color and white balance ) oand not the animal and therefore the animals don't pop...they seem washed out. which would indicate a high white balance setting. Trying changing your camera to spot metering (see your OB) should help alot.

Thanks Ed and Sean, I really appreciate the comments. I think I am going to go with this background for the Collection page as you both have said and use a solid background for the availables. Also Sean, Thanks for the suggestion on the white balance, I will check out the owners manual and figure out that problem. Thanks
