Okay
Well, I know I'm a hypochondriac when it comes to myself, but maybe I'm starting to think my pets have every disease in the world too.
I was reading up on IBD (because of a post on the BP section that everyones already probably seen) and it starts to make me wonder about one of the boas I have.. I have one boa that kind of moves her head side to side a lot when you pick her up out of the cage (I've never seen any other snake do this before, its really jerky), once she gets on the ground or back in the cage she stops though. She eats better than any other snake I have - never missed a meal once - and I've had her for at least 4-5 months now and shes been like this since I first got her.. I saw someone say the snake would be dead within a month if it had IBD, is this true? Does anyone have/know of any boas that wobble their heads? (she only does this if I'm taking her out of her cage and she gets worked up about it) I don't really know what could be wrong with her, and I wasn't ever too worried about it because shes a great eater and thats the only weird thing I've seen her do.

I doubt she has Ibd, but to be safe....has she seen a vet? Most vets don't even know about ibd (I'm lucky to have a really good herp vet very close). Do you know where he/she came from? Any one you know buy off the same person? IBD usually causes a bad chronic case of RI's and thus leads to a mouth rot scenerio. The stargazing thing isn't what most people think it is either...it's definitely a difference in movement that cannot be mistaken, from what I've been told anyways. Like a hippy at a grateful dead concert thing. I'm gonna take this even further and say 9 out of 10 boas I've seen that are being treated for RI's don't even need the treatment, they just need a husbandry re-vamp is all. Is there anyway you can take a video clip of your boa?

The guy I got her from breeds boas (here in AZ) and I haven't heard of anything weird happening with his, I believe he got this snake in a trade though.. I haven't taken this snake to a vet yet but I can do that if it is necessary, I have a really good exotics vet about 10 miles away from my house - I've been to a lousy one before but the new guys I'm seeing know what they're doing, I know that they would know about IBD.
I'll try to get a video clip, I just don't think I have a camera that takes video and my phone camera is worthless.
I have a spider ball that doesn't really have any "spinning" that I've seen, but I would imagine that what my boa is doing would seem similar to spider with really noticeable spinning - the only wobbling I see with this snake is side to side, she doesn't lift up in any weird positions.
I think all the temps/humidity in her cage are fine - UTH is on a thermostat and is always right on cue usually around 90, ambient temps are around 78-81 depending on if the fans on or not. The humidity is hard to keep up on newspaper but I spray the cages down daily and she has a large water bowl in her cage.

I honestly don't know what to say other than take her to the vet and ask their opinion. Sorry.

Its fine! I just get nervous about everything I can't figure out, I'll set an appointment for her for next week and see if they can figure anything out.. I always just thought she was a little slow, I'm going to take her outside today and see if I notice anything else weird with her

Re: Okay
Well I just took her out and she didn't do anything, not even any head jerking.. I think I might just be crazy.
You know how sometimes when you take a boa out - they kind of move their heads fast because they don't want you to put them back in the cage? They kind of try to get out faster than you can put them in? Thats kind of what she does when I take her out, but she isn't doing it right now. My sister knows how to do video - and since she was normal today maybe we'll try again tomorrow to see if we can get video of her doing it
