That's what it means to be extremely proficient at a move. We have a guy in our club, if he passes my guard I might as well tap out on the spot because I know he's gonna kimura me. There's no stopping it, he's an expert at it.

Using the gi ads an unmatched level of sophistication to your techniques. The game is slow and technical. You can always speed it up later when you take off the gi, but there's no substitution for technique.

Not at the moment, some of our members do, though.

Probably everything we do is recycled from some point in time, there's very little new stuff. So I'm sure it's worth looking at although I haven't yet.

wut? andrei arlovski???? lol... fedor hit fujita with a left and right then fujita went down then he got rnc'ed. fujita is the guy who took 2-3 flying knees from gilbert yvel on the chin but didnt even budge.. gettin hit by a thai fighter with a knee to the face is like a whole different level of pain from getting hit by a pro boxer...so imagine fedor's k.o. power.
this guy messed up nog's face using a dive punch. no feet on the ground to pivot the hips.

what do you think of this guy? is he good?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkAmi3NFzYM
the shorter guy is from barra gracie. and the taller, lankier guy is from new breed(used to be carlson gracie). nice ending.
i roll with the new breed guys. right now, i think theyre the best here. although i have no formal jiujitsu training. i just try to roll with them. i really like ground and pound now.

Re: Fedor Emelianenko vs Tim sylvia
That's a good match. They both look like solid purples. The Gracie guys are known for their guards and this one is no exception. He did a good job trying that turtle roll to kneebar/triangle/omaplata repeatedly, but the guy on top is a really good top-fighter. The top guy did seem to be experiencing some frustration at passing the spider guard, but at 2:55 when he gets him flattened from half guard the game is all his after that.
The new breed guys around here are excellent top-fighters as well.

We actually just had a crazy kettlebells/crossfit gym open here. I'm definitely going to check it out. I have enough martial arts injuries racked up that most conventional exercises (bench, squat, running) are pretty much not possible anymore.
