Fedor Emelianenko vs Tim sylvia
the fight is on july 19! cant wait!!
in my opinion, fedor will either ground him until the bell similar to what randy did or a submission, armbar or a rnc.. but i think it wont be a k.o. from stand up...
what do you guys think?

Once again our blackbelt Pedro Silveira is training Tim Sylvia on his grappling...
I'm not sure how a 145 pound guy trains a giant such as Tim Sylvia, but now I have to root for him...even though I like Fedor more.

i agree. If it wasnt for silva's reach it would be a done deal standing. I think silva is one of the most boring fighters ever. Fedor is just a beast. Because of silva im not so excited for this one. But ill be watching it at the winghouse, with my wing basket and pitcher, so well see what happens.

after seeing tim take that one shot from andre arloski i dont think he will ever get knocked out.knocked down maybe but not out.the only way to beat him is to take him down and eliminate the reach

I'm at the top of the blue's now-a-days. The rubber guard is great for competition, both jiu-jitsu and I've seen some people have good success with it in MMA.
I don't pursue it myself, because Bravo's method seems to be so...off the beaten track. I would need to totally revamp my current game to pick up the rubber guard and twister. I'm flexible, but Bravo is ridiculous flexible. I try to stick to the basics/fundamentals so that when I teach I can relate to more people. Imagine trying to teach a room of inflexible people to pull their foot up to their chin...just not going to happen.
I think a good butterfly guard and side control will get the average person a lot further in the long run. Just my .02
What do you think??

top of the blue? nice!! how many stripes?
hmmm... good point...i agree with you there. the basics are the best. very high percentage submissions. and theyre still the ones that are effective in mma.. ive seen serra roll. not flexible but he's a monster-bjj wise... im pretty flexible cos i stopped all bodybuilding leg exercises cos i gets really hard to sneak your leg up for half guard when you hamstring is on the way. it doesnt bend much. so now theyre back to being chicken legs again. i just read eddie bravo's book.. i might try to add some things from the rubber guard. but yeah, im also more into the butterfly guard. cos i saw nick diaz use a rubber guard to takanori gomi and submitted him, and i thought hmm..intresting.. it might up my game a bit to learn a few submissions from that..my style is more like the barret yoshida style. but obviously not anywhere near him! lol... what about marcelo garcia's arm drag? i still cant understand how he's that good!! how does he always end up getting the back when people already know he's going for the armdrag??
people always tell me to train jiujitsu with a gi, but i never did like using one. i think a no-gi grappling would be alot faster transition to mma. do you do any mma?
what do you think about tony chachine's catch wrestling? good or outdated?
thanks jon!
