Daughters first breeding.

Well my daughter has started to breed pet rats. She likes what they call the fuzzy hairless rats. They grow hair in spots or something like that I guess. She had seven babies recently 3.4 is the break down. She is going to keep one female and sell the rest off. Since the mom of this litter took the dad out before they were born, she will be starting to use my hairless pet rat "Jack" for stud service with her two girls now. This is the one she is going to keep. Most of the fuzz should fall out as she grows. She is 3 weeks 3 days in this picture.

No the wife is planning of taking them to the local pet stores and see if any of them have interest in buying them for resale.

Gosh it is adorable!

It looks tiny but that is probably because without a size reference in the picture my brain is interpreting the short thin fur as "small".

i almost got a couple rats to do some summer breeding...
but my mom was like uhh no.

They are about 4-5 inches long. Which is actually pretty small for a rat. We actually really enjoy dealing with rat feeders compared to mice. The pet rats like these are even more docile and extremely easy to handle. Our boys will actually come by name, they get handled more often though since we try to handle the big girls as little as often when nursing.
