Rheo's are not exact, they will fluctuate as the room temps change. temps are the most impostant thing in keeping a healthy BP. One sick snake will cost more than any reliable themostat in vet bills and medications, not to mention over a month of injections for a RI. Dont skimp on temp control, trust me, been there done that, never again.

Detachable probes depends on the thermostat you get. The herpstat thermostats made by spyderobtics will beep at you if a probe has come loose...or if it isn't reading the signal correctly.

I also have Helix brand and the probes have never once come off; you use foil tape to adhere them to the heat source.
