Pick Up from San Antonio Show
I'm not sure if I'm wanting to show these off or not, but I got a new Normal BP on Sunday. When I saw his coloring, he was extremely pale with very little browns to him. When I asked about him, the guy selling him said that he sold him to some woman last year and she gave him back to him earlier that year because her kids weren't able to take care of him anymore.
When I got to look at him, I decided to pass on him, because he was in horrid shape. He had lots of spots on his back were his bad sheds hadn't come off yet. There were also a lot of spots that looked like heat burns and/or scale rot.
My girlfriend, having the over generous heart that she has, decided he was a diamond in the rough and wanted to buy him as a gift for me. So, she paid the man, we got him home, put him in a new tub on newspapers, in a room away from my existing normal. I'm going to try and get an appointment with a local herp vet this week to get him checked out.
Below are some of the pics we took of him before we put him in the tube.
Overall:

One of the spots on his side:

A belly shot with more spots:

And this was were it was really bad near his vent:

I can't imagine how bad his conditions have been until now, but hopefully he'll be able to improve and after some sheds some of that will clear up.
If ya'll have any comments, advice or well wishing I would greatly appreciate it. My g/f and I have been arguing that he is just a normal or not.

S/he's very nice looking, despite the spots. A good dinker if nothing else. Good luck and have fun with him/her!

That is scale rot. I would suggest a trip to the vet

good gawd ya'll are quick!
I had a feeling it was bad scale rot that just hadn't been taken care of previously. He seems very underfed, dehydrated and in need of several good sheds. I wasn't able to get time to call a vet today, but I should have time tomorrow to set something up.
He weighed in at 907 grams, but he skin is folded over in bad ways when he moves. I know how they look when they are about to shed, but this is different. I'm thinking he should be at least 600 grams bigger then he is.
I don't have a finite age or place or origin on him.

Sounds like he's maybe dehydrated as well as scale rot. I'd say to soak him, but that'll make the rot worse.
What would Becky do...? I know she'd say to soak him in something medicinal...hmmm....
Maybe she'll check in.... Do you know Heather??
Anyway, I'm certain that you more than likely have him on paper towels for substrate...

I would say soak him in a 1:10 Chlorhexidine solution to disinfect.. If you don't have it, don't do it.
Then keep on paper towels until you can get to the vet.

Soak him first in some lukewarm water in case he wants a drink, then go for the chlorhexidine soak. Don't want to be ingesting the disinfectant, haha. Yay for clean insides
If you don't have chlorhexidine(www.valleyvet.com), you can go to Walgreens or CVS, even WalMart and buy a bottle of Betadine. Just dilute it with lukewarm water until you get a tea-colored solution. If you have a soft paper towel, you can lightly scrub his belly and the affected areas. Helps the betadine get inside and disinfect everything.
The scale rot should clear up fine in a few sheds. The vet will probably give you some sulfadene creme(burn cream, antibiotic) to put on the affected areas.
Just stick him on newspaper and provide a small water bowl that he can't soak in or dump over. Make sure his temps are a bit higher than normal(I keep mine 94 warm side and 83-84 cool side constantly, and a bit higher if they are a rescue battling an illness). Higher temps will help his immune system and help him heal faster.
Hope that helps!

Re: Pick Up from San Antonio Show
I have him on newspapers at the moment with a small water dish. I'll get the Betadine tomorrow and have my girlfriend soak him for me, cause i'm allergic to iodine and most other forms of it including betadine.
i'll try to pump up the temps in the tub as best as i can, my apt is running about 79°. his Low side is right at 80° and the high side is at 93°. I'll also call the vet tomorrow before I get all the betadine for the soak incase the vet has something different. i don't have the chlorhexidine yet, but i'll order some when i order his new hides. the ones i have for him are a bit small. he can fit under them, but they are about 1/2" off the floor of the tub. they are the 8" drip trays for plants with a hole cut out. i had a spare one for my other BP.
Again, thank you very much for your advice, all of you.
