Hi im new to snakes
i have a 3 month old ball pyton in a 10 gallon for now.
soon it will be in a 30g.
i have a zoo med 75w basking lamp and i was wondering it that it too hot it seems to be kinda warm is there any lower watt or less hot bulbs i could use for diffent parts of the day. like in morning though 4 have hot bulb in and 4 thought 8 lower watt bulb in.

Plus im going on a fishing trip to canada and i was wonder what i should do with lighting.
i kinda want a lower watt night bulb on while im gone at all times while im gone.
only going for a week.
i dont wanna mess with timers did that with my lizards before and it was just a pain.

what should i do?

When i got him he was crawling all over up and down the tank about 5 hours ago.
now he has been in a ball under some branches for about 3 hours and not really moving to much.
is this normal?

and any need to know would be nice

I think a 75 watt bulb in a 10 gal is way to hot. I have a 60 watt and its too hot. I think a 50 watt would be best you should buy a heat pad and put it under their maybe that would be better. I suggest you cover the sceen so you can get your humidity up a little. I cover some of my tank cages with aluminum foil it helps hold humidity.
