new mice

i just got two new mice from the petstore and i have one male and one female. the male is a field mouse color and the female is a gray and white color. any tips on breeding them quickly or a better way of breeding

Put them together and leave them alone in a nice quiet, protected area. That's about it. And leave them alone as much as possible, as mice don't like/tolerate handling as much as rats unless you get them used to it from a very young age.
Of course, it would be better to have 1 male 2 females, but you use what you have.

Of course. But since he got them from a pet store, chances are they are already adults.

Saying that, don't be surprised if they don't give you many babies...or any for that matter. Mice at stores are usually older. The best way to start breeding groups is to get a pair of just weaned female mice, raise them up to about 10-12 weeks old, then put them and a young adult male in a totally new enclosure (no established smells or territory). Works great with good productivity.
