one of my friend picked up a bairds love it and also a white sided rat snake. she became a snake freak after i showed her a reptile show nah she loves them though now. she just picked up a white lip python sorry thats not a colubrid and sorry bout the hyjack.

Now I think I know your type, Mellisa. Maybe you should go with a Green Rat Snake. They're enjoyable to handle and since they're arboreal snakes they climb on you like a tree (it's something I've experienced-it was a great). I'm pretty sure they do grow up to 5 feet, so they're significantly long too. Overall, IMO it sounds like your type of snake.

My vote: Corn snake, Mexican black milk, or cal king.

All gorgeous and can be awesome snakes.

This is my butter corn. She's almost 2 years and super sweet.

That's a holding cage for when hers is getting cleaned.

Hey no prob. On Tai, no he is never a snuggle type and most Asian rats are not. He is not too hard to deal with but always going is the way it is.

Did not see the thread, if you point it out I am happy to answer it. Sounds cool though,

Neil Ford told me he was bit once while probing one for sexing and got no reaction at all.

Re: Best First Colubrid - Suggestions Please!

Both of my gopher snakes are very laid back. The only time I get a bit of a hissing is when I'm feeding my san diego. I have an excess of smaller prey items, and he'll hiss a little bit during feeding. At that point he's already got one in his mouth and I've dropped the second one in the tank (f/t).

Gophers, Bulls, pines can all be calm snakes and still give you a bit of display action now and then. They also tend to be diurnal snakes, so you may see more of them during the day.

    Honduran milk...? Already 6'.
    http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...700221509.html

I'm looking into it. I know - a lot of balls in the air at once! But I love it.

If I get this guy, I still want a cribo and black rat one day (I feel the need to have at least one locally indigenous snake)!!
