Got tub setup done, temp problems?

OK...i just got my tub and set it up today.. Heres the layout...

*substrate- 3 layers of newspaper
*hides- 1 on the warmside
*water dish in middle
* got a zoomed UTH on warmside under hide and have the herpstat that it's connected to set to 96
* got a zoomed UTH on the coolside and have the herpstat connected and set to 85
* i have 20 holds drilled along the side of the tub on each side (the long sides)

But what i don't get are my temps, i have 2 flukers digital thermometers/hygrometers. The one on the warmside measures 78 and 78% humidity, and the coolside measures 75 and 79% humidity??? I know these temps are low.. But when i put my hand on top of the newspaper it feels significantly warm so i know he's getiing belly heat under the hide for sure.
How can i raise my temps??... I figured having two UTH's would do it? Someone help me out?

Humidity is kind of high, you might want to try and lower it by either drilling more holes on the tub or putting the water bowl on the cold side. Also, the water cowl should not be really big, just big enough for the bp to drink from, it does not need to soak. Healthy bps do not soak.

Also, I've noticed your temps are rather high... warm side should be between 90-94 F and cold side should be 80-84 F.

Another question, do your digital thermo-hygrometers have probes? If so, where are they placed? Are you sure you are actually measuring floor temp and not air/ambient temp?

Last by not least, you should have 2 hides at least. They should be identical and touching all sides of your bp's body. One on the warm side and one on the cold side.

Those Flukers things are fine for humidity readings, but you really should have a probed thermometer for the temps. In tubs, I use one In/Out/Humidity Acurite in the back center with the probe on the warm side, then I use a single reading Acurite outside the tub with the probe on the cool side. Probes or a temp gun are really the only way to know exactly what your temps are where your snake spends its time.

To lower the humidity, put some holes in the lid as well.

Thanks for replying But i am gonna move the water bowl over to the cooler side a bit. And no those flukers thermometers are these : http://www.amazon.com/Flukers-34134-.../dp/B0009YJWW4
And they dont have probes. They are stuck to the inside of the tub along the long side of the tub, about in the middle between the top of the tub and the bottom of the tub.

Yep, so you are definately getting the ambient temps... as Argentra said, you need the ones with the probes. I don't get Acurite down here, but I hear they are very good and inexpensive
