While I was out on my mid-day sits, I got a phone call from one of my daily clients who is off on maternity leave.
Sadie, one of their three dogs, was hit and killed by a car yesterday.
I am just heartbroken. They were one of my first daily clients and I have gotten to know all their pets very well. Sadie had been abused in the past before they adopted her and was very, very timid. She warmed up to me almost instantly and we shared a special bond. I am going to miss Sadie something fierce!
I added an in memory of page for her on my website and am going to donate to a local shelter in her memory. They have a brick walkway and you can have them inscribed.
I feel bad that I broken down and cried on the phone when the client told me, but I just couldn't help it. You forge a bond with these animals when you care for them.
Godspeed Sadie, I will see you on the other side.
