When can I remove the babies?
Hi,
I picked some of these guys up a couple months ago and I have had a litter from each female. I am wondering when I should remove the babies? I think I read 5 weeks. Also, for my first litter I need help figuring how old they are as I lost my laptop with all my info. They all have fully open eyes and are starting to eat food from the food dish. Hopefully you guys can help me out.
Thanks a lot,
Bruce

Time frame varies based on a few things. For me, about 3 days after all their eyes are open, and their ears are fully formed they come out. Basicly as soon as they look exactly like thier parents, only much smaller! They start eating / drinking on their own prior to the eyes being open. They are still nursing when I pull them.
In my opinion, it sounds to me like your kids are ready to be pulled.
I have yet to loose a single baby.

Re: When can I remove the babies?
Forgot one thing....
when I do pull the babies, usualy there are a few that are a little smaller, a little undeveloped compared to the rest. They get another 3 or 4 days with mom... then are pulled and put in with the same tank as the rest of the babies. It is amazing how quickly they catch up after a few days with mom, and less competition for her milk.

Thanks for the help. Will be pulling them in a day or two then when my new cages arrive.
