Building Rack - Flexwatt Question
We're building a rack (well my bf is building it for me) that can can either fit 2 16 qt tubs, or one 32 qt. tub per shelf. The width of the shelf is about 24", the shelf depth is about 17".
The snake room is a pretty consistent temp hovering around about 80 degrees. The shelves are pretty shallow so I've decided to go with back heat.
I have some 11" flexwatt that I can use along the back wall of the rack.
My question is should I use two 11" panels of flexwatt on the back, or will just one running down the center provide enough heat?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Building Rack - Flexwatt Question
I would use 2 strips (1 is fine for the 32QT) but when you split with 2 tubs then each will have 6" with no heat (since the heat will be centered and the tubs will be to each side) so there will be less room for the snake to get near the heat.
Hopefully this will make sense.

It makes sense. That's the problem I was trying to figure out. Two 11" strips just felt like overkill to me. I just might have to downsize the flexwatt. I have a bunch of 11" on hand and is the only reason I was going to use 11".

Make sure and use a good thermostat to control the temps and you will be fine using the 11".

Re: Building Rack - Flexwatt Question
instead of using 2 pieces for each tub or 1 centred piece for two tubs, i would use one piece of 11" heat tape running the width of each shelf.
i hope you can picture this...
