refused food but still in hunt mode
well my bp didnt go for his rat after 15 minutes so i put him back in his tank but hes still actively looking for food.whats up with him he looks pretty hungry.his front half is starting to dull a little so he is in the very early stage of a shed cycle but he has eaten when his eyes started to blue on his last shed.should i try again or just wait untill he sheds?

Probably not hunt mode...
More likely stress mode or shed mode

Re: refused food but still in hunt mode
Hi,
Well if you are sure he is still hunting try again for another 15 minutes or so - but keep an eye on it ( assuming it is live prey) for any signs of trouble.
If he still doesn't eat then pull the prey item and try again next feeding day.

I bow to heathers knowledge on this one

Re: refused food but still in hunt mode
ok well it was live but i had to take care of it myself so i just put the rat on the top of the hide he isnt using if he doesnt eat it within 20 to 30 minutes i guess he will just have to wait until he is done shedding.ill just leave him alone and see if he does actually start his shed cycle soon i wanted to try to see if he would eat thawed or prekilled again soon anyways maybe i will get lucky and he will eat one after his shed thanks

One of my pastels is like this, last few months she is only eating every other week. I will drop a rat in and she wil totaly ignore it and once I pull it she is all over the tub looking for it.
