    First Refusal HELP

Bindi had her first refusal today .

I thawed the rat out as normal and put it in front of her in her feeding box as normal, she struck at it and then left it, I tried again but she didn't seem interested. I know she's not stressed, the temps are correct and she's been eating fine ever since I got her which was about 2 months ago.

Should I try again in a couple of days or next week?

    Hi,

    Is she going into shed?

When she struck did she hold onto it and constrict or just either hit it with her nose or bite and let go immediately?

The Dr beat me to it! I bet that you'll see her cloud up in the next day or so since she defensive struck and then went back to hiding.

Keep in mind that she could refuse to eat for many different reasons and there's no need to panic. If she's not starting a shed cycle, maybe she's just full, or in a bad snake mood.

Just try again in one week from the refusal, and remember occasional refusals will happen however those are not considered feeding issues.

She struck at it and had about a quarter of it into her mouth and decided she didn't want it and spat it out

Also would be ok to feed every 5 days instead of 7 and I think she dosen't look very fat or is because she's only 4 months old?

That might be because she didn't feel secure, like if you were standing over her watching. It also might be if she was having trouble swallowing it, like if she had ahold of it sideways, although from what I've observed usually in that case they'll come right back to it and try again.

She isn't supposed to look "very fat" but I'm assuming what you mean is you think she looks thin. You could post a pic and people could give opinions on whether she is too thin or not.

Lots of people feed younger BPs every 5 days. You could also consider bumping her prey size up a bit.

Its ok now, just went up stairs to check on her and she's started to shed, didn't even know she was in shed lol, I've raised her humidity but only her head part has shed so far. How long does it take for a full shed?
