I emailed Sean and Celia about it!

Re: watch out for scammers.. an email i got (cl)

Thank you very much Deborah for passing this information along to us! Unfortunately, this happens all too often and all we can do is police it once someone becomes aware of the copyright violation.

I sent the following email to the host company:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hello,

One of your users has put together a website trying to cheat/scam innocent people out of money. The website claims that he is trying to "adopt" out some snakes for money and he has photos shown on his website of these snakes.

However ALL the photos listed on his website are copyrighted by us, Exotics by Nature and this individual does NOT have our permission to use these photos. He does NOT own these animals and is using the photos of them in violation of copyright laws.

All the photos he has shown on his website can be found on our website at:

    www.BallPythonMorphs.com or www.ExoticsbyNature.com

    Specifically:

    http://www.exoticsbynature.com/select_05pastelbp.html

    http://www.exoticsbynature.com/image.../clown/01l.jpg

    http://www.exoticsbynature.com/ballcollection.html

There is also a discussion of this individual on another reptile forum...

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=67243

I also have the original, full sized versions of all the photos as proof that we own the copyrights to these pictures.

I hope you will be able to remove this website before any innocent people get scammed out of sending this individual their hard earned money.

Feel free to contact us if you need any more information.

    Thank You,

    Sean Bradley

    Celia Chien

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Then I sent this email to the scammer:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    To Whom it May Concern:

It has been brought to our attention that you are currently using photos that are property and copyright of Exotics by Nature without our expressed written consent. This is a violation of copyright laws and we are formally requesting that you remove our photos from your website IMMEDIATELY.

We have already filed a written complaint with the company hosting your website as have several other reptile enthusiasts. If this website is not taken down or our photos removed from use immediately, we will be posting threads on Fauna Classified's Board of Inquiry ( www.faunaclassifieds.com) and Kingsnake.com to warn others of your attempts to scam people by using photos that do NOT belong to you of animals that you do NOT own.

Your immediate attention to this matter would be in your best interest.

    Thank You,

    Celia Chien

Yeah, how about 1 female and 1 male of those?

So sorry, Sean and Celia. Guess he agrees that you had the best booth at NARBC...?

Seriously though, if he does not cease and desist, tell him your lawyer has been contacted. Meanwhile, keep up the good work.

Oh my, I got that very same ad on our Craigslist down here. The kicker for mine was not only free incubators, but babies that had hatched out 2 weeks after they were laid. LOL.

Re: watch out for scammers.. an email i got (cl)

I followed up on this today and tried checking the scammer's website and sure enough, there was nothing there except a "File Not Found" error page. SO, I guess the emails to the host company worked!

Thanks again to everyone on this thread!
