Liasis fuscus normal behavior?

A friend of mine has had his juvenile Liasis fuscus (brown water python) for around a month now. Today he told me that the snake has been spending a lot of time sitting in his water bowl. Now, I know that's usually a bad sign for BP's but what about these guys? I mean, *WATER* python, right? Another piece of info is that the last time he defecated, which was a few days ago, he had very loose diarrhea. When I first heard both of these things I was suspicious, but my friend seemed less worried.

I told him to get a fecal float done, but I'm not sure if he will. At least, he will probably wait till the snake defecates again and see how it looks.

So, is it normal for Liasis fuscus to sit around in their water bowls?

The sticky on here says that they enjoy going for dips or soaks.

This thread is old, but I just wanted to update it. It turns out this particular snake had mites, and after treatment he stopped soaking all the time. I think the moral of the story is, soaking once in awhile is OK, but not ALL the time, even for water pythons. After all, water pythons are not actually aquatic snakes, as I understand.
