I don't like messing with thier eyes and so I would wait for the next shed and really get your humudity bang on

After the soak you can take a wet washcloth and gently swirl around the eyecaps...if they've loosened enough, they should come off without a problem.

Re: bad eye cap shed.. solution??
I would wait until the next shed and bump up the humidity as soon as you see the eyes go blue.
When I got our first BP he had a retained eye cap. He ended up rubbing it off himself about a week before his next shed.
My friend got her BP the same time and he had a horrible shed. I ended up letting him swim in a rubbermaid container for 30-40 minutes (with the lid on). Then I took him out and very quickly pinned his head to a desk with my first finger and thumb behind his head. (My friend held his body for me so he couldn't wrap around my arm/hand and be in the way) Then, I took a wet Q-tip and used that to gently rub the shed back over his face and his eyecaps both came off very easily (along with the rest of his bad shed)!
Since then, I make sure to keep a wet towel on the lid of their vivs as soon as I see them go into blue, rewetting it daily as needed until they shed and I've had perfect sheds since.
If your BP only has 1 retained eye cap I wouldn't worry so much, just make sure you understand his vision is impaired over that eye and he may be a little jumpier than normal because of it.

Re: bad eye cap shed.. solution??
I use some scotch tape wrapped around my finger with the sticky side out. Then I stick it to my palm a couple a time to take off some of the glue. Then start on the nose end and roll your finger across(lightly)the eye as if you were being finger printed. Hope this helps it has always worked for me.

Re: bad eye cap shed.. solution??
I found the safest way to help remove a retained eye cap is to put unscented lotion/skin moisturizer on it everyday. It will help rehydrate the skin that is stuck, I do that with a combination of humid hides with damp moss. Worked beautifully on a rescue I had.
