Parasites
Hey everyone,
Well my guy finally took care of business last night and it was a great sight to see. Never thought I would be this overjoyed to see poop!!!!!
But anyways I took a sample to the vet and they confirmed that my thor has parasites.
They gave me some stuff called PANACUR
And I gave it to him already in his mouth he wasn't happy about forcing him to get his med in there but he took it like a champ...
Now tomorrow is his feeding day should I feed him or let him be for a little while. Since I know there are people on here that has gave meds to their snakes I decided to post this and get some suggestions!!
Thanks guys!!!!

Re: Parasites
What did the vet tell you to do? If they didn't say anything about skipping a meal I would keep it on a normal feeding schedule.

Re: Parasites
Unless giving them meds stressed the snake out in which case the snake could regurge....
How often do you give the meds? Was it just a one time dose?
If you aren't suppose to give the meds again, or maybe not give until next week or something, I would probably go ahead and offer food to the snake. He's on empty given he just poo'd and will more than likely be fine if he accepts the prey.

Re: Parasites
Well that's a great question! I think I heard that you can get them from feeding a live rodent. I think that's why a lot of live feeders breed their own rodents.
Great question- Do a search and see what you discover...

Re: Parasites
I did and all its says that it comes from alot of snakes being together at one time kinda like when they get ready for being shipped to the petsores

Re: Parasites
Probably wild caught or farmed, which would explain the parasites.
