Ringer, I just couldn't say no

This may be a bit obvious to some, but what makes it a 'ringer'?

The first three photos - the orange flames and the orange creeping onto the belly is the ringer. It's basically an "anomoly" from the rest of the pattern, but only in that one area and usually always starts from the belly and creeps up.

That's the best I can come up with to describe it. I'm sure someone else can describe it better.
