    Small rat setup? 1.1?

I want to breed my own feeders for my BP. I have a space in the garage I can use. I cant get good sized rats, petsmart only has frozen mice and the petshop is slim pickings. I have a huge preg. rat right now. I was thinking of letting her have a litter then when they get the perfect size freezing them. I would get a male and let them breed from there on out.

I would have a tub for the weened rats and another tub for the male when needed. Does this sound like it would work?

If your snake eats frozen already, why not just buy frozen rats or mice from an online dealer? The animals are healthier than those you can find in a pet shop and are humanely euthanized prior to you purchasing them.

Having only 1.1 rats means that the male will almost always be alone since you don't want the female to be constantly pregnant(hard on her and the resulting offspring will suffer for it). And the female will need a buddy while she is resting. So you would need 2.2. It's not possible to save money when you're breeding rats for one snake. If you had 5-10, maybe, but not one.

It's much more economical to just buy what you need online and have it shipped to you. I can get adult mice for 45 cents apiece from Big Cheese Rodents and their mice are always healthy and chubby.

I do not recommend RodentPro, ick.

Leave the male in the tub and just pull the weaned babies out into a holding tub. My females never have had problems with breeding back to back. Give them 9 months of breeding and then retire them or you can just move the male on to another group of female rats.

    I should probably add.
Breeding the females back to back will probably shorten their life span so if the rats are pets, don't breed the females back to back, With Snake food, they retire young
