I got a temp gun off Reptilebasics for $25... and it works fine. My Acu-rites on the other hand seem to break a lot. Especially when my snakes knock them over and splash them with their water bowl.

Just curious, do you think surface temps to be more important than ambient temps? I am finding that ambient temps are less reliable.
