Re: I think my "girl" is a boy... :(

I agree, the first pic could possibly depict hemipeins, but the second doesnt. I also agree with the possibility of a prolapse or infection, in which case the snake should go to the vet. If you go that route, there is a list of herp vets as a sticky in the general herp board. The vet should also be able to probe the snake for you to get an accurate gender. Hope everything works out.

Guys.. Read the OP's post. She said the husband picked the snake up and she was flailing around, IE stressed out.

The snake is everting because she is stressed. Notice the musk..

I would leave the snake a lone for a couple of days and then I would pop her/him. *Unless* this is a prolapse situation in which case you need to get the snake to the vet immediately.

    *sigh*

I have a LTC female who does this everytime I get her out. She flails and tries to bite, so I grab her tail and behind her head with one hand(firmly but gently) and clean the tub with the other hand. She musks and everts, and that is exactly what it looks like. It's stress as well as fear and she is showing her displeasure at being handled.

This sounds right on for my snake's behavior! There wasn't anything coming out of her when my husband initially picked her up. I just got her in the mail a few days ago....so she is probably just stressed and scared. We haven't held her really at all...just to put her in her new home. So, I think I'll just leave her alone as suggested!

Thanks everyone!! I feel tons better! I might take her to a local herp guy that I know and see if he will pop her for me just to make sure she is a girl!

    Thanks again!
