    My one egg

Last year I obtained 1.2 SHTCT '06 Leos of different lineage with breeding in mind. I know that the first year isn't often very productive but I was hoping for a little more at this point. The first egg was laid on March 3rd and is a good one. I am looking forward to see what hatches. Subsequent eggs from that girl have been indented and turned moldy in the incubator. The other girl so far has laid only 3 malformed eggs on the floor of the cage. 1 egg may be all that I get this year but I am hoping for more. In any case I will feel some satisfaction if I produce even one nice leo.

Thanks. This egg that is due to hatch in early May will be my first reptile of any kind produced by me. Next year I might be in the position to try Ball Pythons.

    Re: My one egg

I started this thread yesterday and today the girl that had not yet laid a good egg left a nice one in the egg laying box. Hopefully I will get at least a few more eggs this season. I just might enjoy breeding reptiles.

    Congrats on the eggs!
I've always said I won't breed my Leo's but am sort of thinking of giving it a go with my IJCP's in a few years. Not sure though.
Best of luck to you, here's hoping for a lot of cute little ones!

Thanks! I'm only breeding the 2 females, trying to keep the endeavor really small to find out both if I like it and if I can find homes for the offspring. I wouldn't want to get locked into too much work or be up to my ears in babies. Of course I intend to keep the nicest one for myself. If I find out that I'm into more than I want to be, I can keep the male separately or leave him with just one female to scale down even smaller. But next year I think that I will have try try 1 clutch of snakes.

    Re: My one egg

Today, the first gecko came out of the egg, exactly 60 days after it was laid. I looked at it this afternoon and it had pipped. I looked just now and it is out of the egg. Pretty neat. This is the first reptile produced by me.

    Re: My one egg

Sadly I am such an antique version of a human I have not been able to take a close up photo since digital cameras became prevalent. I have 3 digital cameras, all with macro features but I just am not able to photograph anything this small. I did try but had no luck.
