    New King

So my 13 year old cousin that lives in AZ sent me his "Hyper Stripe" kingsnake.

Turns out (thanx to Wes) that its a "Newport" CalKing, named for being found prominently in Newport Beach. They have a brown tint to them opposed to the deep black.

    Well.....it looks like a Newport.

What are its origins? Was it wild caught and if so, where?

Like I said, it's a cool looking snake. Are you srue it's a boy?
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

    Re: New King

I agree that it looks like a Newport, except the newports that I can find are very dark brown, while this one is really light.

I am unsure of sex, but pretty sure he got it from a pet store.

It is a very cool lookin snake just not sure if the Lady wants to keep it

Before the picture loaded I had read Wes' response and was expecting you to be holding a cigarette and wondered why you considered that a king.

Nevermind, it's early, good looking snake

    Re: New King

Congrats Patrick! That's a cool lookin' King! We've been thinking about getting a King to have something different from all these Balls! There's a local pet shop where we sell our extra rodents and a lady who works there is always showing me their other (non Balls) snakes. Well.....she ended up selling me a Bull the previous time I was in there and yesterday she got out a 5 year old Brooks King they had just gotten and I almost took it home! I couldn't get over how gentle and calm it was! I thought Kings were higher strung than that.

Anyway, I really like the one you have. I've never seen one like that. If I can find one like it, I'll probably get it. Good luck with it!
