Not that I can think of. I use a blacklight (40watt) 24 hours a day for ambient heating when its not 80 degrees plus around here. I will mention that there is some light that can be seen by the bp, but I do not believe it is enough to stress the snake out. I have never heard of "shatter proof" bulbs but that is a good safety feature, if you are rough with your lamps
