whats the point of paper balls?

i see poeple say "just trow some paper balls in his encloser" to calm him down? and relieve stress? do u guys actualy mean like rool up some newspaper into balls? how does this help?

It means to loosely scrunch up some pieces of newspaper or something similar, and this provides a more dense environment and more ways to move secretly. Also, they are obviously light weight so a snake can move under, in, or on top of them without getting hurt.

These are very secretive animals, especially one that is stressed.

you use a glass tank right?
use fake plants provides great cover and looks great too. my bp can move from one side of the tank to the other in complete cover

People use scrunched up balls of paper to reduce the open areas of an enclosure for snakes that seem particularly stressed by space. It's most often done in enclosures that end up being too large for young snakes, or for WC individuals who are not used to a cage.

Another approach to this, as was stated, is to use greenery. This is what I did for my BP when she was small and living in a 20L (it was all I had at the time) and it worked like a charm. She now refuses to live in anything but a tank with greenery in it.

When using a glass tank, security is important. Make sure to surround the back and both sides with an opaque background in addition to providing hides and greenery.

im thinink of using some sredded news print as a substrate next time i clean out and see how he likes that and try to take notice if he beds down in it or not
