    Herpstat ND Error#2

so i wake up to hear beeps coming from the reptile room and i know i have the alarms on the herpstats disabled so i am surprised to find out its coming from one of them.
figures its the herpstat that i just wired up to my incubators to test them for a month before i get eggs. so i see "ERROR#2" displayed on the screen and look it up in the manual to find out that it means the sensor has shorted. now i dont know how this happend especially since this thing is brand new and maybe only used for 12 hours but i guess i gotta get a new thermostat probe.
that kinda sucks because i am expecting eggs within the month and living in canada doesnt help with shipping time from the states...
now i have to re-setup a few snakes and steal a probe from another herpstat ND until i receive the new one. i ordered this thermostat months ago but only plugged it in yesterday so theres no point in calling and explaining my situatuion to try to get a replacement one at no charge.

think its worth it to e-mail spyder robotics anyways? wheres a good place to order the replacement probe from? there may be no point to letting you guys know this situation but i was in a posting mood.

    thanks!

Calling Spyder Robotics would be your best bet for obtaining more information on the error and obtaining a replacement probe.

Call them explain everything and see what they say about the code. When it comes back to a definately bad probe you never know! They may tell you that you have to pay for it or they may offer to just ship one our to you. You never know till you talk to the people who can make a difference.

ya you guys are right. im gonna talk to spyder robotics and see what they can do for me.

so for now i took a good probe from another herpstat ND and switched it with the bad one. i then put the bad one in the other herpstat just for fun and it worked perfectly for a good 10 mins until i heard the alarm again but this time "ERROR#3" was displayed on the screen. the manual says that this error is an incorrect probe reading so after much experimentation i figure that the probe is definitely bad...

better the probe then the thermostat.

    thanks guys!

I can pretty much guarantee you that they will send you a new probe at no charge. They are good people over there.

    Re: Herpstat ND Error#2

I've had this happen a few times. Some of my animals have to have the thermostat probe in the cage with them and they tend to beat up the cords after a while. I try to keep at least one extra probe on hand in case one of them fails.
