New Boy has something in his nose.

    Hi,

My new ball python, has a bit of old shed left on top of his head and there is something in his right nostril, the left one is clear. At first i though maybe RI, but his breathing is perfectly normal. You cant even hear him breath. Is what's blocking his nose retained skin from his last shed or should i be more concerned?

    Kind Regards

    Spiritwather

It very well could be retained shed in the nostril, but it's impossible to tell without looking at the snake. If it is indeed retained shed, you could try a 15 minute soak in luke-warm water, then CAREFULLY use a pair of tweezers to remove the offending piece of skin... If you're not comfortable doing that, you should be ok to wait until the next shed. Just make sure to up the humidity to 60-70% so you get a good, full shed next time...

Re: New Boy has something in his nose.

I tried a soak, took him put him in a container, then put him back in his cage, left him for about 15 mins, and now my problem is i cant actually get in to his nose with the tweezers, the humidity in the cage is in the 70's and the temprature is at exactly 25 celcuis, but i think the soak helped anyway, he seems happyer after that, even with the digging in his nose...

I wouldn't go digging in his nose, you could wind up with more problems. Do the soak once a day for a few days and you should be fine.
