    Attaching UTH to Sterilite tub

I looked all through the old posts about UTH with tubs and found you can use them.

However, I never once saw fi they should have a space or can they be attached directly to the bottom using aluminum tape?

Thanks for all the help everyone.

Re: Attaching UTH to Sterilite tub

I've had mine taped with aluminum tape directly to my tub for over a year not without problems. There is some clearance between the tape and what I have the tub sitting on, though (I used a stack of felt furniture "feet" to do it)--because I've read that you don't want to sandwich the UTH between two solid surfaces. I think I have some old pictures kicking around of how I've got things set up. I'm using a larger tub now (Auryn's grown) and replaced the hides with newer, larger things, but the set up is the same.

This first photo is a long-shot of how the tub is set up--notice the little feet to give the tub some clearance.

This is the bottom of the tub--where I have my flexwatt taped with aluminum tape and my thermostat probe taped to the flexwatt with more aluminum tape.

    Hope that helps!

I'm glad that it helped! That's just how I've been doing it and I keep the temps/humidity very stable with the set-up I've got going

How big is that(or your current) tub? How do you regulate the heat between warm/cold sides?

Re: Attaching UTH to Sterilite tub

I am picking up a male on Wednesday and am going to put him in a tub. I have a 37 qt sterilite tub and a UTH that will come along with the male.
So just to error on the safe side, can you please re-explain the application process? I understand that there should be a space between the UTH and the surface it is sitting on. I do not have a thermostat. What do I use electric tape for? Thanks
