Overfeeding?

hi guys. i was the one having problems with some bps that won't eat so i changed some of them to smaller tubs. now they're always eating. 8 of the 10 snakes have eaten 3 rats.1 3-week old rats and 2 weaned rats each snake. the two other bps have eaten twice. whenever i feed them, after 2 days, they look hungry again and start roaming around the tubs.is this bad? the climate here is very very hot(its summer). around 95-100 degrees. so im thinking this makes their metabolism fast. should i take advantage of this and feed them as much as they want or should i just stick to feeding them once a week?

the normals weigh 100-150grams
the pastel is 200+
the fireball is 300+
the hets 300+
and the spider is under 100.

i dont think i am feeding them undersized rats that's why i posted their weights.

Ball pythons are known for getting fat. I'd keep it to one feeding every 5-7 days and then depending on the size of the animal feed it what is appropriate on feeding day.

hmm. maybe i can pack enough pounds on them so the 300s can make it to next year's breeding season?

If they are 300 grams now you will have to feed pretty heavy to get them to weight and that can cause them to go off feed thus negating what you are trying to do! Not sure what weight you are shooting for as your selected breeding wieght so it could be quite possible also! I like to see about 100 grams weight gain a month from 300 to 700 grams then maybe a little more than that say 120 to 140 grams a month till they make 1200. From that point if you are feeding them large enough prey, they pick up the pace pretty quick as long as they don't go off feed!

wow! thanks for the tip sir!!! 1,200grams would be the right weigth i would like to breed the females. maybe around 2 rats a week? thank you sir!

I usually feed my snakes... wait for them to poop... give them 1 or 2 days of nothing... then feed them again. My avg weight gain last month was 98 grams.

My bp poops about every 2 weeks, so he wouldn't be fed much at all if I waited for him to poop between feedings....
