    Female laying on her side

Ok so one of my females (beyonce) has been laying sideways alot lately. She weighs about 1100g right now and looks alot "thicker" than usual. If I didnt know better I would think she was about to lay eggs or something, but that cant be a possibility. I bought her in Nov '07 @ ~650g and she has never been with a male since I bought her. Should I have any concerns?

There arent any good herp vets in my area that I know of. The only vet that I know about is not going to be any help.

Re: Female laying on her side

Also, she is acting normal otherwise. She is eating fine, moving around fine, and defecating fine. I just noticed her laying on her side alot lately and figured it was a little strange. She isnt showing any signs of discomfort and she is just as active as always when the lights are out. I was hoping someone else has seen this behavior in something other than a gravid female...

It's not impossible that she is gravid. They can keep sperm for a very long time. In Reptile Radio with Mark Mandic he talked about a female that got gravid 9 month after breeding.
But take her to the vet if your not shure.

I found my lady laying upside down last week.
She is very swollen and I can feel 6 eggs in her.

Re: Female laying on her side

Hmmm... Could she have been sexually mature at ~650g though? I dont know how to feel for eggs, but I will try anyway I guess. She isn't totally upside-down or anything, just the lower 2/3 of her body is laying on the side (not always, but maybe half of the time).

Re: Female laying on her side

I have several large ladies that I did not cover this season or were not covered last season. I have found them building, Oving, wrapping, side laying,....I finally called a great friend, kinda like a (Snake On-star...) and asked what the deal was. Do mature females go through the motions...??? Dogs do. Cats. Horsed. US! He said that they do cycle, having a boy part wiggler ready to jump aboard is the only factor that makes one gravid... hope this helps ya out?

Even if you don't end up taking her to the vet check this site out..
    http://www.herpvetconnection.com/penn.shtml

I clicked on the PA one for you, it has a bunch of exotics vets and reviews on it, both of the vets I went to are on it, as well as a lot of good vets in my area.
