So my question, however noob it may sound, is where do i place it in the enclosure? top? bottom? does it even matter?

Is this a stick on? I'm going to assume it is not. If there is a sensor, place the sensor on the hot spot of the tank, on the glass, under the substrate. Humidity is measured in the ambient air so it doesn't really matter where on the lower level of the tank you get this measurement. Hope this clears things up a little for you!
