Just wondering
Is it normal for my boa to be inside its water dish for more than a day. All of his temps. and humidity are normal and he doesnt look as if he is ready to shed either.

Re: Just wondering
Change it out for a smaller water bowl that he can't fit into. Also, make sure that there are no mites in the water bowl that he's soaking in.

Re: Just wondering
My red tail has been doing the same thing the last couple of days. She comes out of the water for a little bit and then goes right back in after I change the water. Wasn't sure if that was normal or not. No mites and the tank is stabilized, Perfect heat and humidity.
I came on here to ask the same question as you and found your post.

Re: Just wondering
Actually, a bowl big enough to soak in is a good thing for boas. They will often soak, especially prior to shedding.
If there are no mites and the temps are good, don't worry.
Keep an eye on her nostrils, make sure she doesn't plug up, but it's not uncommon at all.

Re: Just wondering
Fresh water or fresh bedding must be "seasoned" as soon as possible.
We all know that rule.

Re: Just wondering
Boas actually need a big water dish so they can soak in. But if it is doing it for days at a time sounds like mites to me . My boa never soaks for more than an hour and usually poops after that. I'm not saying it is mites for a fact but it doesn't hurt to pretreat the enclosure anyway with Provent a Mite
